I’m back after taking Holy Week off to be more contemplative with my family, and I’m sharing why spring and Easter feel especially meaningful to me. I reflect on how pregnancy and birth mirror the liturgical seasons: the roughly 40 weeks of pregnancy echo the biblical meaning of 40 as a time of waiting, purification, and refinement, like Lent. I compare early labor to Holy Thursday, active labor to Good Friday, transition to Holy Saturday’s darkness, and finally meeting our babies to Easter Sunday’s resurrection joy.
